Overview
We are looking for a strategic and dynamic Commercial Director to spearhead business growth, tendering, and commercial strategies across several major construction and landscaping projects. This role demands driving new business opportunities, crafting competitive bids, managing pricing models, nurturing client relationships, and delivering commercial excellence throughout project phases.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and pursue new project opportunities to stimulate business expansion.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with clients, consultants, governmental bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Analyze market trends to foresee opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Formulate business development plans, manage sales pipelines, and project revenue forecast.
- Lead the preparation, evaluation, and submission of project tenders for construction and landscaping initiatives.
- Manage tender strategies including pricing, value engineering, and risk evaluations.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, procurement, and finance teams to produce precise and competitive proposals.
- Establish commercial policies, frameworks, and systems that promote sustainable profitability and growth.
- Oversee contractual negotiations, letters of intent, final agreements, and commercial terms.
- Monitor commercial risks and identify opportunities across projects and business units.
- Guide and develop teams involved in business development, tendering, contracts, and commercial operations.
- Enhance internal competencies through training, professional development, and the setting of clear KPIs.
- Ensure the commercial strategies align with operational execution effectively.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- Significant commercial leadership experience in construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated success in business development, tender management, and securing substantial projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pricing methods, cost estimation, contract frameworks, and market behavior.
- Advanced negotiation, communication, and client management capabilities.
- Strategic leadership skills with experience directing cross-departmental teams.
- Familiarity with FIDIC or equivalent contract standards.
- Professional accreditations such as MRICS, RICS, or an MBA will be advantageous.
