About the Role

The Claims Associate at Walmart Canada plays a crucial part in maintaining inventory accuracy and enhancing store profitability by ensuring proper management of damaged and returned merchandise following company policies. The role involves working collaboratively with vendor partners, store associates, and customers to obtain necessary credits, uphold inventory control, and promote seamless store operations. Combining keen attention to detail with exceptional customer service, the Claims Associate safeguards company assets and fosters a positive shopping and working atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately scan damaged and stolen items promptly to minimize losses.
  • Prepare returns, vendor requests, recalls, and donation items by completing necessary paperwork and ensuring timely packing and shipping.
  • Maintain the claims area tidy, safe, and organized by adhering to proper lifting, ladder use, and chemical disposal protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to company procedures when processing damaged and recalled items, update claims regularly, and complete required documentation for older claims to reduce chargebacks.
  • Support store programs such as completing Customer Value Program (CVP) tasks and comply with current operational systems and processes.
  • Provide assistance to other team members including the Office Support Associate and Direct Store Delivery Associate as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by being willing to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet business requirements.

Challenges in the Role

  • Manage a high volume of tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment.
  • Effectively handle overnight shifts by planning to maintain energy and focus.
  • Complete restocking and recovery tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform physical activities such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting inventory or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs (occasionally up to 50 lbs), and executing repetitive actions like stocking and zoning with consistent attention to detail.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this position is $19.20.

Minimum Qualifications
