Company Overview and Role Context
An established FMCG company in Dublin with a workforce exceeding 300 employees, yet retaining a close-knit, family atmosphere, is expanding its team. The Category Manager will work under the guidance of the Head of Category Management, who fosters a collaborative and supportive work environment.
The team plays an influential role within the commercial department, partnering primarily with retail customers. The ideal candidate will have strong data analytical skills to derive meaningful insights and effectively communicate these to empower the commercial team. This position offers significant exposure to business operations and retail trade, alongside opportunities for professional advancement.
Role Objective
This position is key to developing, nurturing, and sustaining trusted category leadership relationships with retail partners. The Category Manager supports National Account Managers, the sales team, and the broader category team by leveraging category insights to pinpoint opportunities to drive sales growth and improve market share.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the customer business planning process with National Account Managers and retail partners to align category initiatives with retailer objectives.
- Strategically formulate category management business plans reflecting customer goals and implement category growth programs.
- Translate category insights into actionable plans for both retailers and the sales force, including new product launch analysis and merchandising evaluations.
- Utilize data analysis to identify pricing, sales, and volume growth opportunities.
- Maintain databases by updating all platforms to ensure access to the latest data.
- Employ market research tools such as Nielsen, Talysis, point-of-sale, loyalty data, and demographic analytics to generate comprehensive category reviews.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills
- 3 to 6 years of experience in FMCG category management or insights, with at least one year specifically in category management.
- Advanced proficiency in Nielsen data and similar market research platforms.
- Strong analytical abilities to convert data into actionable, understandable business tools.
- Excellent communication skills to present analytics clearly at multiple organizational levels and deliver training.
- Deep understanding of the consumer goods industry, including trade classes, customer segments, category dynamics, competitor strategies, and trends.
Working Conditions and Additional Details
This hybrid opportunity requires the candidate to spend three days in the office and two working remotely. The role offers full bonus eligibility contingent on performance.
