Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Business System Analyst specializing in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) technology to join our team in Toronto, ON. This hybrid role involves leading analysis and implementation initiatives for enterprise-level AML systems within a financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive business systems analysis for AML technology projects across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with AML Operations, Compliance, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, IAM, and IT teams to elicit and define detailed business requirements.
  • Examine current processes and identify areas for enhancement and automation.
  • Create thorough documentation including Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS), User Stories, Use Cases, Process Flows, and Data Mapping.
  • Partner with solution architects and development groups to convert business needs into workable technical solutions.
  • Support the rollout and refinement of systems such as AML Case Management, Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Sanctions Screening, Transaction Monitoring, and Regulatory Reporting.
  • Perform gap analysis and assess impacts arising from regulatory updates.
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to design future-state business processes.
  • Coordinate with QA teams during test preparation and testing phases.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities including test case creation, defect management, and securing business approval.
  • Assist with production deployments, provide hyper-care support, and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure all initiatives comply with banking regulations and internal governance.
  • Engage actively in Agile Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups.
  • Offer continuous production support and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot critical issues.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Business Systems Analysis.
  • At least 5 years’ direct involvement in AML or Financial Crime Compliance initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and financial regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with enterprise AML platforms and financial crime compliance software.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking, documentation proficiency, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Experience working within Agile development frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with effective presentation aptitude.
