About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and technically adept Business Intelligence Developer based in Toronto with a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite per week). This is a contract position for 12 months with strong potential for extension, offering an hourly rate of CAD 50. The role involves supporting data management, reporting, dashboard creation, and analytics initiatives that empower informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain both recurring and ad-hoc dashboards, reports, and analytical products for various business teams.
- Aggregate, clean, standardize, and validate data sourced from multiple origins to support comprehensive reporting and analysis.
- Interpret complex business problems and datasets to derive actionable insights, advising stakeholders accordingly.
- Oversee data pipelines by conducting quality checks and resolving data discrepancies to ensure dependable reporting.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications for the development of reporting and visualization solutions.
- Create and refine visual data representations to clearly communicate performance indicators and trends to decision-makers.
- Maintain accuracy and alignment of reporting outputs with data models, KPI definitions, and business logic standards.
- Document reporting assets, processes, and operational guidelines thoroughly to support consistency and scalability.
- Handle ad-hoc data inquiries, analyses, and reporting requests within established deadlines.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting efficiencies and improve data accessibility.
Qualifications and Experience
- Three to five years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, reporting, or related fields.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent in Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Information Systems, or related areas.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for data querying, transformation, and analysis.
- Hands-on experience creating dashboards and visualizations using Power BI.
- Practical knowledge of Python or SAS for data preparation and analytical reporting.
- Expertise in data quality validation, testing methods, and troubleshooting data issues.
- Experience managing large, complex datasets derived from varied sources.
- Capability to convert business requirements into technical reporting and analytical solutions.
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to convey insights to both technical and lay audiences.
- Experience documenting reporting workflows and maintaining related process materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in digital, marketing, or customer analytics.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling principles.
- Experience with automated reporting and monitoring of data pipelines.
- Understanding KPI frameworks and performance measurement methods.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and forecasting techniques.
- Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
- Exposure to additional data visualization or analytical software beyond Power BI.
- Awareness of governance, risk management, and compliance issues in data reporting workflows.
