Job Summary
The Automation/DCS Technician will primarily handle preventive maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and troubleshooting of distributed control systems (DCS) such as Honeywell TDC-3000 (TPS) and Experion Systems, alongside safety systems including Triconex, Siemens, HIMA, and Honeywell. Responsibilities also cover PLCs from Allen Bradley, Siemens, HIMA, and Honeywell; PDCS Systems by Siemens; and gas turbine control systems like GE Mark VI and Vie.
The technician must be thoroughly acquainted with their designated work area, associated equipment, and the general processes of maintenance operations. They are expected to perform routine maintenance tasks independently under routine supervision while ensuring housekeeping standards and correct maintenance and usage of tools and equipment. Compliance with QAFCO's occupational health, safety, quality, energy, and environmental protocols is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine and non-routine maintenance tasks independently within scheduled timeframes and quality standards.
- Communicate work progress and findings clearly through verbal updates and proper documentation for supervision tracking.
- Obtain approvals for cold work permits to assure safety-compliant task execution.
- Organize and lead toolbox meetings to review work plans, confirm availability of appropriate tools and safety gear before starting tasks.
- Spot and report equipment issues promptly to prevent potential failures.
- Provide guidance and oversight to contract laborers during regular tasks and shutdown events.
- Lead contract teams for designated assignments during plant shutdowns.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma plus a 2-year diploma in a relevant technical field.
- At least five years direct industry experience in fertilizer, petrochemical, chemical, or oil and gas sectors.
- Ability to operate autonomously and collaboratively, using strong communication, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven maintenance experience within ammonia, urea, melamine, desalination, or chemical processing plants.
- Understanding of signal circuit designs, transmission device types, and implementation of transmission systems linking measurement and control equipment.
- Knowledge of information system disaster recovery procedures, including backup and restoration methods.
- Competence in selecting and procuring spare parts following established procedures.
- Technical expertise in troubleshooting Honeywell ESD, Triconex, GE Mark VI, Siemens PDCS, and Allen Bradley systems.
- Familiarity with firefighting equipment use and strict observance of Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
