Associate Designer

About the Role

DL1961 is looking to hire a skilled Associate Designer with over three years of experience in apparel design, focusing specifically on denim products. In this capacity, the individual will collaborate closely with the Chief Product Officer (CPO) and other members of the design team to conceptualize and develop seasonal collections for DL1961 and its parent company, Artistic Denim Mills (ADM). This role demands a creative and meticulous professional who excels in trend research, product development, and operates effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the CPO and design colleagues to generate concepts for Women’s, Men’s, and Kids’ apparel.
• Assist in creating mood and color boards that align with the season's themes and market tendencies.
• Support the execution of design ideas, ensuring precise sizing and fitting standards.
• Manage daily design operations such as handling samples, preparing technical packs, annotating designs, maintaining control documentation, sketching assistance, and tracking mail parcels related to design processes.
• Continuously stay updated on fashion trends, industry news, and competitors to keep the brand forward-thinking and competitive.
• Collaborate on the design and development of prints and innovative fabric materials.
• Maintain the sketch library and craft seasonal inspiration write-ups.
• Lead responsibility for pre-production and top-of-production sample management to guarantee quality and punctual delivery.
• Provide clear, detailed feedback following garment fittings to factories for improvements.
• Review garment construction and specifications, suggesting enhancements when needed.
• Coordinate with production teams to resolve fitting and construction challenges promptly, documenting adjustments accordingly.
• Report production and quality issues to sales and creative departments proactively.
• Analyze production-related data from sales to anticipate and address potential issues.
• Ensure all specifications are current for new fit blocks and fabrics.
• Authorize ghost mannequin photos, confirming they accurately showcase garment fit and details.
• Promote a cooperative team atmosphere and maintain strong vendor relations.
• Keep the design workspace organized and clutter-free on a weekly basis.
• Provide updated fitting and washing standards upon request for internal teams.
• Communicate design alterations to factories and sales teams as needed.
• Offer additional design team support aligned with business demands.

Compensation and Benefits

The indicated annual salary for this position ranges between $65,000 and $70,000, with the final offer influenced by qualifications, experience, and industry expertise.
