Role Overview
The Assistant/Production Manager is tasked with overseeing the full spectrum of procurement, budgeting, coordination, and post-production activities for current affairs programming. This position demands active involvement from finance management to talent coordination, ensuring smooth operational workflows and successful program production.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all procurement operations and ensure timely payments related to production.
- Prepare and actively monitor the production budget and track associated costs.
- Coordinate administrative duties with external personnel such as fixers and freelance cameramen including vendor management, agreements, invoicing, and payment processing.
- Source, select, and manage casting of contributors and talent for documentaries and program segments.
- Lead the development of look books and manage styling directives for hosts and talent, including handling wardrobe fittings and coordination.
- Arrange booking of essential crew, studios, necessary equipment, and external services or vendors.
- Support post-production by managing footage wrangling, ingestion, logging, and transcription tasks.
- Collaborate seamlessly with internal teams and outside partners, maintaining effective communication and alignment on production objectives.
- Continuously improve production workflows and processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent qualification is required.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Demonstrable experience in managing budgets, schedules, and deliverables specifically for factual or high-end documentary productions.
- Strong communication abilities enabling effective collaboration across editorial, production, post-production, legal, and finance departments.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a team player, especially interacting closely with producers, assistant producers, and production teams.
- Familiarity with AI-supported tools and practical knowledge of production and post-production software.
