Overview
Join AECOM in Doha, Qatar, as an Assistant Resident Engineer where you will contribute to significant infrastructure projects by providing essential on-site construction supervision and quality control. Collaborate with senior engineers and contractors to uphold project standards and ensure safety and contractual compliance throughout the construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and inspect the quality of work, progress, and schedule adherence on construction sites.
- Conduct thorough inspections to confirm all construction activities align with approved plans, methodologies, and safety protocols.
- Ensure all site safety measures are properly implemented as per supervision plans and legal regulations.
- Execute specific inspection duties and checklists under guidance from senior resident engineers.
- Work with junior technical personnel to verify critical construction components including foundations, structural elements, and finishing tasks.
- Prepare detailed supervision reports documenting non-conformities and actions taken to rectify them.
- Review contractor submissions such as technical documents, certifications, and method statements for compliance.
- Monitor contractor technical staff's performance and give constructive feedback.
- Participate actively in site and coordination meetings to report progress and resolve issues.
- Coordinate with design teams and project stakeholders to address site-related technical challenges.
- Conduct factory inspections and verify materials to meet project and industry standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of site activity, inspections, and communications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related disciplines; or a higher diploma/certificate with equivalent professional qualifications.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in construction site supervision or engineering roles; or 5+ years with diploma-level education.
- Strong familiarity with construction techniques, building codes, and industry standards.
- In-depth understanding of contractual obligations in construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is mandatory for effective communication in Doha.
- Proven capability to work independently with initiative while maintaining teamwork.
- Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Adaptability to evolving site conditions and project requirements.
- Experience in site documentation, report preparation, and record maintenance.
- Willingness to undertake factory inspections and off-site material verification.
- Competency in coordinating with multiple stakeholders in a construction setting.
