Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Department Head of Anesthesia at St. Boniface Hospital, the Anesthesia Attendant supports various operational duties including preparing, assembling, and setting up anesthesia-related equipment and supplies. Responsibilities include equipment inspection, cleaning, maintenance, inventory management, and patient transport as requested. The role requires adherence to the hospital's mission, values, and management philosophy.
Work Schedule & Terms
- Position type: Term with anticipated duration from August 21, 2026 to July 18, 2028
- Full-time employment at 1.00 FTE
- Daily hours: 7.75 per shift
- Total annual base hours: 2015
- Shifts primarily during nights and weekends
- Work arrangement: Onsite at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
- Completion of a regionally recognized Sterile Processing Program from an accredited institution
- One year of relevant experience within the last three years; related roles include Sterile Processing Attendant or Health Care Aide in relevant hospital units such as Post Anesthesia Recovery or Intensive/Critical Care
- Successful completion of a departmental test after the hospital's Anesthesia Attendant Program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Level C certification is mandatory
- Proficiency in English language (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension)

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with others
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Capable of working independently with minimal guidance and adapting to stressful situations
- Mechanical aptitude and accuracy in task execution
Physical Requirements
- Endurance to walk, stand, bend, lift, twist, and reach throughout the shift
- Ability to lift and carry loads up to approximately 40 pounds (18 kilograms)
- Capability to move patients when necessary
- Ability to maneuver and push or pull carts loaded with equipment

- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check obtained within six months prior to starting employment; the candidate is responsible for any related fees
