Dyson maintains and advances the Dyson Link Smart home app, a leading element of their IoT ecosystem. The app enjoys high ratings on app stores—4.5 on Apple and 4.3 on Google Play—with over one million active users globally and more than three million connected Dyson devices. With growth ambitions to connect devices across new categories, the team faces considerable challenges ahead.
Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with fellow developers to enhance the Dyson Link Android app by delivering scalable, testable, and reliable software features.
- Engage with cross-functional teams such as test engineers, product owners, Scrum Masters, UX/UI designers, and cloud and embedded engineers to align development efforts.
- Develop clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code adhering to modern Android best practices.
- Participate actively in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and technical discussions to improve project outcomes.
- Promote knowledge sharing within the mobile app team to foster skill growth and support colleagues.
- Explore and integrate new tools and technologies to elevate engineering quality and productivity.
Technology Stack
- Kotlin is the primary language, with ongoing migration from Java.
- Architecture follows the MVVM pattern with modular design.
- Utilizes Jetpack libraries such as Navigation Component and WorkManager to streamline development.
- Networking and API interaction through Retrofit, AWS IoT SDK, and Gson; Dagger is used for dependency injection.
- Kotlin coroutines manage asynchronous programming and event streams.
- Testing involves JUnit and Mockito for unit tests, Espresso and Kakao for UI testing.
Candidate Profile
- Driven by the impact technology can have on improving living environments.
- Collaborative mindset with strong adherence to Agile methodologies and empowered team dynamics.
- Two to three years of experience delivering quality Android application code used by customers.
- Proficient in Kotlin and experienced in modern Android architectural patterns like MVVM.
- Comfortable with asynchronous programming paradigms, such as coroutines.
- Skilled in unit and UI testing frameworks to ensure code reliability.
- Passionate about continuous learning and sharing insights with peers.
- Enjoys tackling real-world challenges through thoughtful software development.
- Experienced in leveraging AI-assisted developer tools to boost productivity while applying critical judgment to validate generated code.
