Analytical Chemist

Role Overview

This position of Analytical Chemist is based in Singapore on an onsite 12-month contract. The role centers around being a specialist in gas analysis using advanced spectroscopy techniques within the Global Sustainability Team, focusing primarily on emissions data from global research, development, and manufacturing facilities. The incumbent will contribute significantly to evaluating emissions performance and championing initiatives to decrease environmental impact.

Key Duties

• Oversee emissions data gathering across global R&D and manufacturing sites employing technologies like FTIR and Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry (QMS).
• Execute Destruction or Removal Efficiency (DRE) assessments for abatement mechanisms in cleanroom environments utilizing mobile FTIR instruments, working collaboratively with process and facilities teams.
• Analyze collected FTIR data and compile detailed reports documenting DRE measurements.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to the Emissions Analysis Leadership Team to enable informed decision-making for emissions reduction strategies.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot FTIR and allied analytical instruments in partnership with equipment vendors.
• Guarantee the precision, validation, and compliance of data with organizational and industry benchmarks.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, facilities, and sustainability departments to facilitate emissions monitoring and enhancement programs.

Education & Experience

• Possess a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate at least three years of practical experience working with FTIR or comparable spectroscopic equipment.

Skills & Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of FTIR data interpretation or equivalent analytical tools.
• Competency in data verification, analysis, and comprehensive reporting.
• Experience with macro scripting or automation techniques is advantageous.
• Familiarity with IPCC 2019 Tier 2c methodology and U.S. EPA DRE measurement standards is preferable.
• Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude to address and resolve equipment issues.
• Excellent communication abilities to effectively present technical insights to diverse stakeholders.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Capability to work extended periods (up to 8 hours) within cleanroom settings during DRE evaluations.
• Responsibility for handling and moving mobile measurement devices in coordination with facilities personnel.
• Frequent on-site collaboration and coordination with multiple functional groups.
• Active participation in instrument setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting tasks.

Additional Duties

• Serve as a subject matter expert in chemistry and materials characterization for Technology Development and Manufacturing teams.
• Conduct routine and complex analyses applying advanced chemical knowledge and established methods concerning semiconductor materials.
• Analyse incoming materials and develop novel analytical techniques compliant with Materials Quality specifications for semiconductor product enhancement or creation.
• Formulate and implement new procedural methods ensuring scientific rigor within manufacturing contexts.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative testing, interpreting results and delivering findings to clients.
• Ensure meticulous evaluation, interpretation, and validation of semiconductor data including samples, calibration, and quality controls.
• Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols, including proper compliance with hazardous materials handling standards.
• Contribute to process improvements and potential modifications of equipment or instrumentation.
• Interpret outcomes from new or altered processes to assess laboratory or production impacts.

Experience Range

Applicants should possess between three and five years of relevant industry experience.
