Role Overview
Join WestJet's expert technical team as an Avionics Technician responsible for maintaining the avionics systems on a diverse fleet including the Boeing 787, 737 NG, 737 MAX, and De Havilland Dash 8-400. This role demands strong problem-solving abilities, attention to safety, and collaboration within a dynamic environment. Candidates must be willing to work onsite with a schedule that includes day, afternoon, and night shifts in a 5,5,4 rotation.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive wages with various premiums: ACA starting at 7% increments up to 11%, $2/hour night shift premium, $7/hour fuel tank entry premium
- Overtime compensated at 1.5x for first 8 hours and 1.75x thereafter within pay period
- AOG assignment pay at 1.5x including non-working hours

Requirements
- Current Transport Canada (E) Licence mandatory
- At least two years’ experience or endorsement on Boeing 737, 787, Q400 or similar aircraft preferred
- Strong technical aptitude in electrical systems, navigation, and flight controls
- Legal right to work in Canada (Canadian Passport, Permanent Residency, or open work permit with PR in process)
- Radio Licence to be obtained within six months of hire
- Physical capacity to lift 62 lbs and endure extended periods sitting, kneeling, or standing
- Ability to work in challenging environments including extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and heights
- Ability to pass fit testing for safety equipment such as respirators
- Flexibility to take shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Willingness to travel for base coverage or rescue trips as required
- Proficiency with maintenance software and Microsoft Office applications
Conditions of Employment
- Must obtain and maintain Transport Canada Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
- Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) required; a valid driver’s license and clean driving record necessary
- Successful pre-employment physical assessment including audiometric testing
- Clear police and criminal background checks
- Passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening covering various substances
