The Student Central Services Department is seeking applicants for the role of Academic Learning Support Specialist who will contribute to student academic success through developing and managing tutoring and learning programs aligned with the university's goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement academic support programs to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Offer academic coaching and assistance to students facing academic difficulties, including those with learning disabilities or other challenges.
- Organize and deliver workshops and seminars to support academic skill development and performance.
- Coordinate with other student support units to provide integrated and complementary learning services.
- Create and apply academic support and remediation strategies as necessary.
- Manage a comprehensive tutoring program aimed at improving student academic achievements.
- Develop and conduct study skills programs equipping students with necessary tools for academic success.
- Promote academic support services and foster partnerships with faculty, staff, administration, and students across campus.
- Maintain and enhance services of the learning commons related to academic support.
- Implement improvement plans targeting areas for student achievement advancement, establishing goals and action steps.
- Support tutoring programs and academic help centers dedicated to student learning.
- Assist in creating assessment and evaluation processes to measure the impact of support services.
- Stay updated with the latest academic support research and adopt innovative methods for student success.
- Keep accurate documentation of student involvement and progress in support services.
- Utilize data analytics to generate reports to guide future academic support planning.
- Help design and execute marketing and communication efforts promoting academic support to students.
- Coach students on study techniques such as time management, effective note-taking, and exam strategies.
- Provide assistance to other Student Central Services functions as needed.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory.
- A minimum of five years of pertinent experience in academic support or related field.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, positive approach to tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills fostering constructive relationships at all organizational levels.
