About the internship
Overview
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to advanced AI alignment research within life sciences and biotechnology, focusing on designing rigorous evaluation datasets and testing next-generation models through comprehensive problem sets and automated scoring systems. The role involves collaboration with a leading AI platform and requires expertise in bioinformatics and biostatistics.
Responsibilities
- Develop cutting-edge evaluation datasets encompassing complex immunology, biochemical reaction dynamics, and sophisticated bioinformatics challenges.
- Create benchmark datasets that extend beyond conventional academic questions, including multifaceted immunology scenarios such as cytokine networks, receptor analysis, antigen presentation, immune evasion, and vaccine response modeling.
- Design biochemical reaction tracking cases featuring enzymatic cascade interactions, metabolic fluxes, allosteric regulation, and temporal kinetics requiring multi-scale reasoning.
- Address advanced bioinformatics topics like genome assembly, variant calling, phylogenetic inference, single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, and protein structure-function relationships within datasets.
- Integrate real-world noisy data, edge cases, and domain-specific knowledge blending quantitative reasoning in all datasets.
- Compose intricate, long-context evaluation problems designed to utilize the entire 128k token input space, thoroughly challenging contextual reasoning capabilities of emerging AI models.
- Assess model coherence and accuracy over extensive inputs through multi-part case studies including simulated research articles, raw experimental datasets, patient cohort metadata, and contradictory literature.
- Force AI models to retrieve, reconcile, and synthesize information across early and late context sections, testing memory, cross-referencing, and extended planning.
- Design precise, objective, and automated evaluation schemas in JSON/YAML to enable machine-gradable scoring, eliminating subjective assessments.
- Create validation scripts to verify schema compliance, logical consistency, and correctness against ground truths in evaluation outputs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be available to work remotely and able to start between August 4, 2026, and September 8, 2026.
- Commitment to the full 3-month internship duration is mandatory.
- Candidates should possess relevant skills and demonstrated interest in bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related fields.
- This opportunity is exclusively for elite PhD researchers and top biotechnology scholars from premier institutions such as IISc, IITs, and major national labs.
- Special encouragement is extended to women aiming to re-enter or pivot within the deep technology sector.
Perks and Stipend
- The program features a stipend ranging from ₹7,000 to ₹20,000 per month, including a fixed component (₹5,000 to ₹10,000) and performance-based incentives (₹2,000 to ₹10,000).
- Flexible working hours with a five-day workweek.
- Earn a certificate upon successful completion and a letter of recommendation highlighting your contributions.
