The Yard Operations team supports numerous live auctions annually across the globe. The team is composed of dynamic individuals working full-time and part-time in roles ranging from equipment inspectors and yard managers to administrative and customer service personnel, all contributing to managing successful multi-million dollar auctions.

Job Description

IAA is currently hiring a Yard Attendant to join their yard operations. This hands-on role suits individuals who enjoy working outdoors and have a keen eye for detail and an enthusiasm for vehicles. Yard Attendants prioritize safety while maintaining a swift and seamless workflow. The role involves using cutting-edge technology and playing a key role in auction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Register and document vehicles upon arrival at the facility.
• Thoroughly clean vehicles to enhance their auction presentation; training will be provided.
• Safely operate passenger vehicles within the yard, including moving vehicles and participating in drive-through auctions.
• Collect and manage keys, license plates, and other vehicle-related items, ensuring their proper storage.
• Provide assistance and accurate directions to visitors, directing them to the appropriate contacts as needed.
• Receive on-the-job training to operate forklifts and loaders.

Candidate Requirements

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Enjoyment of physically demanding work conducted largely outdoors and readiness to undertake such tasks safely.
• Positive attitude to ensure excellent customer service during all interactions.
• General mechanical knowledge or an interest in cars is highly valued.
• Strong teamwork skills to contribute effectively to the workplace success.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to fulfill driving duties safely.
• Preferred but not required: experience in automotive repair, equipment rental, construction sectors, or related fields.

Physical Demands

• Consistent use of safety and maintenance protocols to safeguard company and client property.
• Appropriate application of personal protective gear such as gloves and glasses.
• Heightened awareness to prevent accidents and ability to respond promptly when incidents occur.
• Compliance with relevant regulations regarding hazardous materials.
• Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items weighing up to 20 lbs, frequent handling of up to 50 lbs, and occasional moving of over 100 lbs.
• Continuous reaching, handling, standing, walking, and sitting along with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and crawling.
• Predominantly outdoor working conditions, requiring alertness to hazards related to heavy machinery and vehicles in the vicinity.

Working Conditions

• Work is primarily outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
• Must maintain vigilance concerning safety hazards posed by heavy machinery and vehicles around the work area.
