Job description

About MangoErrands

MangoErrands is a fintech platform designed to guarantee that every payment fulfills a specific purpose intended by the sender, the receiver, and the vendor. The platform allows people abroad to send money with a clear focus like paying bills, buying groceries, paying school fees, or addressing urgent needs back home. The funds directly reach vendors via secure payments into their bank accounts, turning remittances into actionable services that benefit Jamaican businesses island-wide. MangoErrands is registered in New York and Kingston.

Role Overview

The Vendor Growth Lead will spearhead the expansion of MangoErrands' merchant and nonprofit network throughout Jamaica, driving the areas where diaspora dollars get spent on the ground. This person will promote platform usage among supermarkets, pharmacies, hardware stores, schools, churches, charities, and SMEs in all parishes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Onboard prominent merchants with high foot traffic such as supermarkets, pharmacies, hardware stores, gas stations, wholesalers, and well-known retailers across Jamaica, prioritizing by foot traffic, remittance fit, and parish coverage.
  • Achieve monthly vendor acquisition targets and maintain a pipeline of prospective merchants.
  • Form partnerships with churches, schools, charities, and small businesses to facilitate diaspora funds flowing to these institutions effectively.
  • Collaborate with Chambers of Commerce, parish councils, and business groups to generate vendor introductions at scale and coordinate co-marketing initiatives.
  • Provide training to business owners and staff on using MangoErrands payments, scanning codes, and transaction reconciliation.
  • Support merchants and nonprofit leaders on marketing strategies to the diaspora to maximize sales from overseas payments.
  • Conduct on-site refresher sessions for new staff or when new platform features launch.
  • Act as the main contact point for vendors and early adopters in your area, resolving issues promptly and relaying feedback to the team in New York.
  • Monitor vendor activity regularly and intervene if any partnership becomes inactive to ensure strong retention alongside acquisition.

Candidate Requirements

  • Deep understanding of Jamaican business culture with the ability to confidently approach busy store owners and close deals efficiently.
  • At least two years of experience in field sales, business development, account management, merchant acquisition, FMCG sales, or similar client-facing commercial roles.
  • Proven capacity to build connections with Chambers of Commerce, churches, parish business networks, and community organizations.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to independently plan, execute, and track weekly activities and meet targets without direct supervision.
  • Possession of a valid Jamaican driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, dependable internet access, and a functional laptop to operate effectively in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with supermarket chains, pharmacy groups, or wholesalers are an advantage.
  • Experience selling SaaS, fintech, point-of-sale systems, or mobile money solutions to small businesses.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, Google Sheets, and basic sales pipeline reporting.
  • Knowledge of spending habits of the Jamaican diaspora and their purchasing patterns back home.

Compensation and Benefits

  • On-target earnings of approximately JMD 3,200,000 annually.
  • Competitive base salary.
  • Travel allowance to cover costs related to fuel and vehicle maintenance.
  • Commission bonuses up to 20% based on vendor onboarding and transaction volumes.
  • Performance bonuses with potential to exceed the target earnings for high achievers.
  • Direct influence shaping MangoErrands' presence across Jamaica, beyond a regional assignment.

Why This Role Is Important

Diaspora remittances represent a significant source of foreign exchange for Jamaica annually, but senders have limited power in directing where funds are spent. MangoErrands channels these funds directly to local Jamaican merchants, guaranteeing accountability, convenience for receivers, and dependable revenue for vendors. Each merchant recruited strengthens the ecosystem that keeps more economic value circulating within Jamaica.

Application Instructions

Prospective candidates should send a brief note indicating the parish they are based in and the types of merchants they have previously worked with, along with their resume and an example of a successfully closed deal or relationship established, including the results.
