About the Role
Martin Marietta is looking to hire a Utility Person who is safety-focused, reliable, and driven. The person will perform cross-functional tasks including plant maintenance, production activities, and equipment operation while ensuring safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include lubrication of plant equipment, housekeeping, equipment operation, and routine maintenance. The work schedule is generally from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and may require weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant machinery, such as cutting and welding with supervisory direction
- Perform inspections before and after shifts on equipment, keeping accurate maintenance logs
- Utilize hand tools and operate machinery like skid steers and front-end loaders for cleaning and maintenance of plant areas and roadways
- Operate water trucks to control dust emissions
- Engage in plant operations including production, loading, shipping, and quality checks
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure safe traffic flow in assigned work zones
- Safely operate mobile equipment specific to the plant, like excavators and haul trucks when needed
- Assist in training colleagues as necessary
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by supervisors
Candidate Profile
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
- Prior experience in the building materials sector is preferred but not mandatory
