Role Overview

The Transport Allocator role is critical in a dynamic setting, central to daily operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant dispatch of the transport fleet while maintaining outstanding customer service and operational efficiency. Collaboration with drivers, customers, operational teams, and management is essential to coordinate daily routes, monitor fleet activities, manage compliance, and aid continuous business improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Scheduling and allocating daily transport runs to optimize fleet and customer satisfaction.
• Tracking fleet movements and swiftly responding to operational changes, delays, or issues.
• Supporting drivers with guidance and resolving operational challenges during the day.
• Managing driver schedules, leave, and workforce coverage.
• Ensuring compliance with Chain of Responsibility, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), fatigue management, and load restraint standards.
• Maintaining accurate records covering transport, compliance, training, and fleet management.
• Coordinating with customers and internal teams for service needs and query resolution.
• Supporting fleet maintenance schedules and asset management tasks.
• Reporting and investigating service anomalies, missed collections, and operational metrics.
• Promoting a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, and ongoing improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Prior experience in transport allocation, dispatch, or fleet coordination.
• Comprehensive understanding of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, load restraint, and fatigue rules.
• Background in transport, waste, recycling, or related sectors.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to juggle various priorities.
• Effective communication capability with drivers, customers, and stakeholders.
• High attention to detail combined with proactive problem-solving.
• Proficiency in fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and Microsoft Office suite.

Essential Requirements

• Possession of a valid Australian HR Driver's Licence.
• Demonstrable experience in a transport allocation or dispatch position.
• Strong knowledge of HVNL and Chain of Responsibility regulations.
• Ability to pass initial and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
