Overview
Join Arriva Group as a Trainee Bus Driver at our Rhyl depot and embark on an exciting career in public transport. You will play a crucial role in connecting communities, helping passengers get to work, school, and other essential destinations. No prior bus driving experience is needed, as we provide thorough training and support to help you become a qualified driver.
Training and Compensation
As a trainee, earn £13.45 per hour for the first 12 months. After successful completion, your pay rises to £15.80 per hour. We offer comprehensive paid training, including obtaining your PCV license through our Arriva Training School, and ongoing professional development including CPC training.
Pay Structure
- Trainee Drivers: £13.45/hr for the first three weeks
- Post-training: £13.45/hr Monday to Saturday rising to £15.80/hr after 12 months
- Sunday Pay: starts at £18.70/hr rising to £22.00/hr after 12 months
- Bank Holidays: £19.13/hr rising to £22.50/hr after 12 months

Work Schedule
- Five working days out of seven on a rotating shift pattern
- Shift start times vary: mornings from 4:00 AM, afternoons from 12:00 PM, evenings from 6:00 PM
- Overtime availability based on need and employee availability
- Fixed shifts (only mornings, afternoons or evenings) are not offered separately
Candidate Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of one year driving experience
- Possession of a valid UK driving license with fewer than 7 penalty points
- Clear performance on drug and alcohol screening tests
- Strong communication and customer service skills
