Job Summary
We are seeking experienced tractor-trailer drivers to handle long haul transportation across various locations, including cross-border and international routes. This position requires commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service while operating heavy trucks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate straight or articulated tractor-trailer trucks to transport goods safely and efficiently.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip, en route, and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain vehicle safety and compliance.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling including dangerous goods.
- Collaborate with a two-person driving team or drive in convoy formations as required.
- Address any customer concerns or complaints professionally during transport.
- Communicate effectively with central dispatch to relay information regarding trips and cargo.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo details, hours of service, mileage, and fuel usage.
Qualifications and Experience
- Secondary (high) school graduation or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 2 to less than 3 years of relevant driving experience, with expertise in mountain driving.
- Valid Driver's License Class 1 or A with Air Brake (Z) Endorsement.
- Familiarity with various transportation and documentation such as bills of lading, accident and incident reports, dangerous goods documentation, driver logbooks, and trip reports.
- Experience operating transportation communication devices including CB radio and onboard trip recorders.
- Ability to manage international, long-haul, national, and provincial/territorial routes.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of criminal record check, driving abstract verification, and drug testing is mandatory.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel extensively including internationally and overnight routes.
- Physical stamina to manage heavy loads (up to 45 kg) and endure physically demanding repetitive tasks with extended sitting periods.
- Possession and use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety vest are required.
