About Eaton and Role Overview

Dubai acts as a vital center for Eaton's Middle East operations, integrating commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and support teams within a globally interconnected corporate structure. With over 40 years in the region, Eaton recently announced plans for a new sustainable campus in Dubai, emphasizing its commitment to growth, collaboration, and skill advancement.

As a Test Engineer focused on PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly), your responsibility involves establishing, validating, maintaining, and enhancing test procedures in production to ensure the quality of PCBAs. You will provide technical support for troubleshooting defective PCBAs after ICT, Flying Probe, and functional tests, safeguarding Eaton’s production standards and continuously improving customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain operator and maintenance instructions for electronic test equipment used in PCBA and finished goods (FG) testing, including ICT, Flying Probe, and functional tests.
  • Oversee and conduct second and third-level maintenance activities such as preventive maintenance and calibrations of testing equipment.
  • Collaborate with Industrialization Program Managers and Manufacturing Test Development teams during new product introductions and transfers, contributing to manufacturing deliverables like Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, and PPAP.
  • Participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews with R&D to influence PCB/PCBA design.
  • Ensure timely updates of PCBA test instructions and maintenance plans in relation to engineering change orders.
  • Monitor and enhance PCBA and FG test cycle times by SKU and coordinate relevant data with production management.
  • Support audits and quality certification processes related to electronic test stages in production.
  • Assist in the implementation of novel test solutions, including measurement system analysis (MSA), cycle time validation, and operator instructions.
  • Support configuration of PCBA/FG testing operations data in SAP and MES systems alongside product engineers.
  • Analyze overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) for testers per SKU and drive continuous improvement initiatives in electronic testing.
  • Monitor key maintenance performance indicators such as mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR).
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for Eaton plants and external EMS partners concerning test processes on the shop floor.
  • Identify capital expenditure (CAPEX) requirements to enhance productivity in testing with consideration of return on investment.
  • Support continuous improvement methods including SMED, Kaizen, Rapid Improvement Events (RIE), and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).
  • Function as a test process expert during quality crises by conducting root cause analysis and defining corrective plans.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing test environments, with comprehensive knowledge of assembly processes preferred.
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience in production test operations, including maintenance and programming of Flying Probe Test equipment, especially Takaya systems.
  • Strong expertise in test operations equipment and defect root cause analysis using continuous improvement tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of PCBA manufacturing, IPC-A610 Class 3 standards (certification valuable), ESD safety protocols, and quality control practices.
  • Experience creating and executing maintenance plans for test equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and engage effectively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation precision and a safety-first mindset aligned with Eaton's standards.

Benefits and Work Environment

  • Opportunity to join a century-old reputable energy company with significant global influence.
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and sustainability values.
  • Access to mentoring programs, learning opportunities through Eaton University, and employee recognition systems.
  • Global career development prospects and an agile, diverse team environment.
  • State-of-the-art systems, tools, and well-structured employee development processes.
