Technology Control Assurance Manager

About the role

Barclays is seeking a Technology Control Assurance Manager to enhance its technology risk and control framework. You will independently evaluate technology and cyber security controls, support regulatory compliance, and promote sound risk management by engaging stakeholders and overseeing governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate across the bank to maintain a robust and efficient control environment by performing ad-hoc assessments and testing the design and operation of internal controls aligned with control standards and policies.
• Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures to uncover control weaknesses and mitigate potential risks prioritized by impact on operations, financial loss, and reputation.
• Report significant findings to relevant stakeholders and business units, recommending corrective measures to senior managers and working with other control professionals to resolve complex issues and promote consistent testing across the bank.
• Create and maintain a knowledge repository with documentation of control assessments, test results, findings, and distribute educational materials to train and enhance staff capabilities.
• Provide advice and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and ensure operational effectiveness by collaborating with other functions and business units.
• Lead or guide teams performing complex tasks to achieve business objectives, set goals, coach employees, and evaluate performance in alignment with organizational standards.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviours that foster an inclusive and high-performing environment, including listening authentically, inspiring others, aligning efforts across the enterprise, and developing team members.
• Offer consultation on complex issues to support leadership in resolving escalated matters.
• Identify risks and develop policies and procedures to bolster governance and controls.
• Take accountability for managing risks and strengthening controls within scope of work undertaken.
• Coordinate and collaborate across areas to align with organizational objectives and maintain awareness of business activities and strategies.
• Conduct detailed analysis of diverse internal and external data sources to solve problems effectively.
• Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Expertise in conducting assurance activities within technology and cyber security environments, including independent control reviews, General IT Controls (GITC) testing, and US SOX control effectiveness evaluations.
• Excellent communication skills to engage senior stakeholders with constructive challenge and support for clear risk accountability.
• Strong initiative and accountability in planning, prioritization, and execution of activities aligned to organizational policies and governance.
• Preferred qualifications include ISACA certifications such as CISM, CRISC, CISA, or CISSP.
• Knowledge of technology risk management frameworks and control standards.
• Experience in regulatory compliance, audit, or control programmes within complex organizational settings.

Additional Information
