Technical Lead - Full Stack Development | Remote (Jamaica) | Full-Time

About the Role

AltoLeap Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Lead for a fully remote, full-time position based in Jamaica. The successful candidate will join a small but dynamic team working on substantial projects, taking responsibility from system design through delivery while directly engaging with clients and mentoring junior developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end full-stack development utilizing Django and Django REST Framework, with front-end technologies like Vue, React, and mobile frameworks such as Flutter or React Native.
• Lead client discovery sessions independently, directly managing requirements without an intermediary product owner.
• Make architectural decisions and be accountable for system design and implementation quality.
• Integrate with external systems, including ERPs, vendor APIs, payment gateways, internal client systems, with extensive use of OAuth protocols.
• Manage and maintain infrastructure including Linux environments, Docker containers, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or similar), as there is no dedicated DevOps team.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers, conducting code reviews as an integral part of the role.
• Develop and deploy AI functionalities like model training, fine-tuning, large language model integrations, and retrieval pipelines where they add value.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years experience in software development, including at least 4 years in a lead or principal role.
• Expertise in Django and Django REST Framework with strong skills in Vue or React for front-end development.
• Proven experience working closely with clients: gathering requirements, scoping projects, and managing expectations.
• Extensive background in third-party system integrations including REST and SOAP APIs, webhooks, OAuth 2.0, and practical problem resolution.
• Familiarity or strong motivation to learn MCP protocols.
• Solid skills in Linux administration, Docker, and continuous integration/deployment processes.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud service providers like AWS or GCP.
• Demonstrated mentoring experience guiding junior developers.
• Practical exposure to AI and machine learning technologies, with emphasis on depth of knowledge.
• Residency in Jamaica with legal authorization to work locally.
• Additional valuable skills include Flutter or React Native mobile development, infrastructure as code, and experience in consultancy or agency environments.

Work Environment & Compensation

This position requires a full-time commitment, including availability for client and team meetings aligned with Jamaica's 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM workday. Every team member is expected to be actively coding; leadership involves hands-on development rather than solely planning. The company prioritizes exceptional client experience and permits modification of processes to enhance service effectiveness.
