Data Link Institute of Business and Technology is a well-established private university committed to transformative education, innovation, and leadership development to positively influence communities locally and beyond. The institution is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and maintains affiliations with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and University for Development Studies (UDS).
Role Overview
The Systems Administrator will oversee the installation, administration, configuration, maintenance, protection, and enhancement of the university's IT infrastructure. This encompasses servers, networks, operating systems, databases, cloud platforms, and business-critical applications that support educational, research, and administrative activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including upgrades.
- Administer Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, email platforms, and user account management.
- Oversee the network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, and internet connections.
- Monitor system performance to ensure high availability and optimal uptime of ICT resources.
- Manage virtualization solutions such as VMware and Hyper-V environments.
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Support critical enterprise applications including Learning Management System (LMS), Student Information System (SIS), and ERP software.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system-related issues.
- Create, update, and manage ICT documentation, institutional policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure adherence to cybersecurity protocols, data protection laws, and institutional ICT policies.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the ICT Director or executive management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of three years experience in systems administration, ideally within a tertiary education environment.
- Proven expertise with Windows Server, Linux OS, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper-V), and network computing.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), CompTIA Server+, Linux (RHCSA/RHCE), VMware (VCP), AWS, or Azure are preferred.
