Switchboard Call Handler

Job Overview

The Informatics Department is seeking a Switchboard Operator/Call Receptionist to join the team at Ysbyty Gwynedd, providing a dedicated switchboard service for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board around the clock, every day of the week.

The role requires managing calls during day and night shifts, utilizing computer systems to locate admitted patients after hours, and operating internal paging systems to communicate with staff for internal and external calls. Proficiency in the Welsh language is mandatory for this position.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate long-range bleeps by relaying verbal and numeric messages, awaiting staff response, and transferring calls accordingly; monitor and take action if no response is received.
• Execute emergency protocols for incidents such as cardiac arrest, fire, major incidents, or personal assaults, maintaining records as per operational procedures.
• Maintain internal paging receivers by replacing batteries, arranging replacements if necessary, and instructing bleep holders on proper usage.
