Role Overview

The Sustainability Assistant will play an essential role in advancing ASOS's goals for sustainable materials use and circular design across key product categories. Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers, this position will monitor sustainability progress, assist with compliance and certification processes, maintain accurate data and reports, and help develop training and guidance. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison for selected suppliers and buying groups to foster cooperation and improve sustainability performance.
  • Keep abreast of current trends and innovations in sustainability and fashion.
  • Conduct weekly checks ensuring green claims comply with relevant legislation.
  • Prepare documentation to meet internal governance and external audit requirements.
  • Assist with reporting to organizations like Better Cotton and Textile Exchange.
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier databases, trackers, and critical timelines.
  • Help sustain policies, procedures, and internal guidance materials.
  • Review and confirm supplier certifications such as GRS, RCS, OCS, and GOTS for compliance.
  • Manage the ASOS Better Cotton Platform monitoring account and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Work alongside suppliers to address issues with certifications and track adherence.
  • Handle administrative duties such as invoice approvals and coordinating meetings.
  • Identify and propose improvements and automation opportunities to reduce manual processes.
  • Compile concise updates, summaries, and presentations for stakeholders.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Experience in fashion, retail, or sustainability sectors.
  • Knowledge of sustainability challenges in fashion, sustainable materials standards, certification, supply chains, and manufacturing.
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Competency in handling data and automation tools, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective and confident communication skills, building positive team and supplier relationships.
