Site Engineer

Job Overview

The position of Site Engineer involves overseeing daily construction tasks to ensure projects proceed safely, promptly, and align with approved plans, specifications, and quality benchmarks. Supporting the Section Engineer, the role encompasses supervising personnel, managing subcontractors, handling site records, and tracking progress to meet project goals.

Key Duties

• Review construction drawings for clarity and accuracy, ensuring only current approved-for-construction versions are in use.
• Remove and manage obsolete drawings and documentation.
• Keep site records up to date, including daily diaries, reports, and documentation.
• Compile daily reports documenting work completed, workforce deployment, and work areas.
• Supervise on-site tasks, verifying conformance to drawings, specifications, methods, and schedules.
• Monitor project progress relative to timelines, reporting any delays or issues to the Section Engineer.
• Manage foremen, trade supervisors, and land surveyors to optimize manpower and resource deployment.
• Oversee subcontractor activities, ensuring coordination and reporting on progress and challenges.
• Plan and perform inspections and testing as per approved Inspection and Test Plans.
• Verify completion and compliance of work before inspection submissions.
• Request inspections and provide quality documentation to the Quality Engineer.
• Manage corrective actions and rework as directed by the Section Engineer.
• Ensure approved materials and latest drawings are used throughout construction.
• Communicate technical issues, progress updates, and site events clearly to the Section Engineer.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to align work and facilitate smooth operations.
• Confirm and document verbal instructions prior to their execution.
• Apply and enforce site safety procedures following the Project HSE Plan.
• Identify and report hazards, ensuring rectification measures are taken.
• Encourage compliance with safety standards and healthy work practices.
• Oversee material usage, aiming to reduce waste and ensuring correct storage and handling.
• Track consumption of materials, overtime, and equipment utilization including power tools.
• Guarantee availability of resources to sustain work quality and timelines.
• Follow daily and weekly schedules provided by the Section Engineer.
• Implement orders from the Project Construction Manager and Project Engineer after confirming clarity.
• Plan internal inspections ahead of work to aid timely completion.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 3 to 5 years experience in civil construction, especially high-rise building projects
• Thorough knowledge of construction materials, methodologies, and site operations
• Ability to interpret and apply design drawings, specs, and method statements correctly
• Proficient with construction-related software like MS Office and AutoCAD
• Effective English communication, both written and verbal
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills
• Capable of thriving in dynamic, team-based construction environments
