About the Role
The Short Term Planner plays a vital part within L’Oréal’s Operations division located in Somerset, NJ. Tasked with orchestrating the manufacturing schedule, this role ensures that raw materials, bulk ingredients, and components are available precisely when needed to keep production flowing efficiently. It acts as a crucial link coordinating efforts between Manufacturing Operations and the Logistics team, fostering clear communication to guarantee smooth production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the conversion and sequencing of production orders for both Bulk Processing and Finished Goods Packaging.
- Manage daily order conversions and sequencing of packaging lines and processing vessels with a target of a firm five-day production schedule.
- Collaborate with Logistics to confirm availability of components and raw materials supporting production plans.
- Identify and escalate bottlenecks impacting the production plan promptly.
- Work closely with Production Managers to synchronize order scheduling with labor to avoid unexpected line stoppages and enhance workforce utilization.
- Track, analyze, and report on production plan adherence and achievement to reach site goals.
- Investigate deviations in the production schedule and develop corrective measures.
- Ensure accurate Master Data management in SAP, including creating new recipes and processing versions, as well as ongoing system maintenance.
- Build strong relationships across the facility to promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvements in planning.
- Maintain tight control over inventory levels to prevent bulk product expirations and line stoppages caused by missing materials.
- Support the launch of new products by meeting critical timelines to ensure timely availability.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support operational success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting within cosmetics or related industries, preferably with at least one year in production planning.
- Familiarity with SAP and APO systems is advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and capability to follow complex procedures accurately.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

- Salary ranges from $65,400 to $91,500 annually, contingent on experience, education, geographic location, and skills.
