Senior Interior Designer

Role overview

Utopia Design is hiring a Senior Interior Designer to join its real estate development design team, with a focus on boutique hospitality projects. The role centers on concept creation, material selection, mood board development, and the preparation of drawing packages across different RIBA stages.

This position is best suited to someone who can work independently through the day, check in with the team as needed, and share clear progress updates every week. You will report to the lead designer and work alongside architects, CGI artists, consultants, the FF&E team, and the client.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicative, detail-focused, and driven to produce reliable, high-quality work on schedule.

Location and working arrangement

• The role is fully remote.
• Collaboration takes place in Central European Time (CET) or UK working hours.
• No visa sponsorship or relocation support is provided for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process from the earliest concept phase through detailed design and final handover.
• Make sure the design direction reflects the brand identity and creates strong user experiences across all assets.
• Partner with interior designers and 3D artists at each stage of project development.
• Develop original ideas around materials, lighting, space planning, and spatial narrative.
• Create unique design directions for different properties while maintaining the core brand language.
• Work closely with the Head of Design and important client stakeholders.
• Keep work aligned with RIBA stages and support technical design through to construction.
• Coordinate with outside consultants, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or Architecture.
• At least 10 years of experience in architectural design.
• 2 to 3+ years in a senior role with responsibility for guiding a team.
• A portfolio showing strong concept thinking and successful delivery of high-end residential and hospitality projects.
• Hands-on ownership of projects from concept through construction, preferably across multiple international locations.
• Strong knowledge of interior architecture workflows and RIBA project stages.
• Experience working with luxury brands or demanding clients.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong creative judgment, and an innovative visual approach.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to create sketch renders for internal review using tools such as 3D Max, Twinmotion, Lumion, or V-Ray.
• Strong documentation, mood board creation, visual storytelling, and presentation abilities.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Professional-level English; Spanish is an advantage.
• Comfortable working remotely.
• A portfolio is mandatory.
