Job description

Role Overview

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority is recruiting a Senior Intelligence Officer to support the Reef Joint Field Management compliance program. This role focuses on gathering, managing, analyzing, and reporting compliance-related information concerning activities within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The Officer will foster cooperative information sharing with field staff and partner agencies, operate multiple data management systems, and produce intelligence reports to aid compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed research, analyze, integrate, and assess compliance data related to commercial and recreational fishing, marine industries, tourism, and other regulated uses within the World Heritage Area.
  • Support identification of trends and patterns to guide compliance planning and intelligence gathering.
  • Manage and interrogate case management databases, geospatial platforms, and other information tools effectively.
  • Produce intelligence reports, briefing documents, visual presentations, and analytical products to facilitate investigations, compliance operations, and management decisions.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve information sharing and support program priorities.

Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in research and analysis, able to clearly communicate findings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of building effective relationships.
  • Critical thinker with a demonstrated capacity for evaluating complex information.
  • Technologically adept and quick to learn different computer programs and systems.
  • Problem solver who enjoys challenges and has a passion for continuous learning.
  • An appreciation for the outdoors and an understanding of activities within the World Heritage Area.
