As a Senior IBM Master Data Management (MDM) Developer in the Canadian Banking Engineering group, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-grade MDM systems centered on customer data management. Your responsibilities will include crafting scalable online transaction processing and batch workflows, enabling near real-time integrations through messaging and event frameworks, and maintaining compliance and auditability using IBM's out-of-the-box MDM solution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain IBM MDM implementations for managing customer data.
- Create and optimize large-scale batch jobs utilizing Unix scripting languages such as AWK and Perl.
- Analyze and enhance system performance on Unix/AIX platforms with a focus on CPU, memory, and I/O metrics.
- Develop backend services using J2EE technologies including Java, IBM MQ, SQL, and ORM frameworks.
- Write and manage complex SQL statements, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
- Integrate MDM platforms with enterprise applications using JAX-WS web services, message brokers like MQ and Kafka, and batch or ETL pipelines.
- Ensure the integrity and consistency of data across relational databases, primarily IBM LUW DB2.
- Participate in enterprise-wide integration activities and collaborate closely with support, database, and infrastructure teams.
- Contribute to the software design process and engage with stakeholders for requirements and technical discussions.
- Mentor junior developers and advocate best practices in development, testing, and deployment.
- Uphold coding standards, maintain version control using Git-based repositories, and apply CI/CD methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Proficient with Unix/Linux scripting, especially AWK and Perl, for batch processing and data analysis.
- Strong experience working within Unix environments, IBM AIX preferred, including system performance tuning.
- J2EE development expertise encompassing Java, IBM MQ/JMS, SQL, and ORM frameworks (IBM pureQuery preferred).
- Extensive experience with relational databases, particularly IBM LUW DB2, and advanced SQL skills.
- Familiarity with source control systems such as GitHub, Bitbucket, or Git.
- Background in large-scale system integration using web services (JAX-WS), messaging systems (MQ, Kafka), and ETL or batch processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of IBM MDM development, including transaction and event frameworks, and IBM WebSphere administration for configuration and troubleshooting.
- Strong J2EE developers without prior MDM experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Understanding of customer data domains and financial services is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Experience resolving IBM MQ connectivity and high-availability failover issues.
- Familiarity with MDM audit and logging frameworks including tail tuning and asynchronous logging.
- Exposure to event-driven architecture and integration patterns.
- Prior work experience within regulated financial environments.
