Overview

Qatar Airways offers an exciting role within their Flight Operations Support Services team as a Senior Data Science Analyst based in Doha, Qatar. The role focuses on applying advanced analytics to boost efficiency in Flight and Technical Operations (CAMO), employing methodologies such as machine learning, optimization, root cause analysis, and prototyping decision-support tools. This position provides actionable insights and strategic guidance to senior stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities

• Utilize expertise in data science, statistics, machine learning, and optimization to advance analytics capabilities for Flight and Technical Operations (CAMO).
• Maintain strong business knowledge around on-time performance, flight scheduling, predictive maintenance, and operational cost impacts within the relevant operational areas.
• Deliver complex, timely analyses working closely with Flight and Technical Operations to understand problems and create innovative, business-focused solutions.
• Lead data analysis efforts to detect trends, offer operational insights, forecast outcomes, and generate actionable recommendations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain machine learning and optimization models to support operations.
• Create data-driven prototype tools using machine learning and optimization for further assessment by business users.
• Innovate by leveraging emerging technologies, open-source frameworks, and cloud platforms such as Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and Databricks; familiarity with the Skywise platform is advantageous.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or Artificial Intelligence.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant experience including at least 3 years specifically in data science roles.
• Proven ability applying statistics, advanced analytics, and operations research to address business challenges.
• Strong presentation capabilities and proficiency in data visualization tools.
• Proficient programming skills in Python, R, and SQL for data preparation, querying, and machine learning development.
• Hands-on experience with Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras.
• Expertise in optimization software including Cplex, Gurobi, and Google OR-Tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experienced with high-level BI tools like Qlik, Power BI, and Tableau.
• Experience with the Skywise platform is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting professionally with diverse partners, senior managers, and subject experts.
• Data Science or Machine Learning certifications via any cloud platform are advantageous.
