Senior Commercial Engineer

Job Overview

MOBCO Group is looking for an accomplished Senior Commercial Engineer to manage the commercial aspects of construction projects across Saudi Arabia. This role demands oversight over all contractual and commercial operations from contract administration to risk management. The ideal candidate brings substantial construction industry expertise, particularly with FIDIC contracts and commercial best practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee commercial and contract-related activities throughout the project's duration.
• Analyze, interpret, and execute construction contracts aligned with project needs.
• Handle preparation, assessment, and negotiation of contract changes, variations, and claims for extensions or other disputes.
• Track project financials including costs, budgets, forecasts, and cash flows to maintain commercial viability.
• Manage interim payment requests and subcontractor payment certifications.
• Assess subcontractor bids and engage in commercial negotiations.
• Detect commercial and contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, and Contracts to meet project targets.
• Evaluate tender documents and assist in bid development from a commercial standpoint.
• Generate detailed commercial reports, cost evaluations, and financial projections for senior leadership.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all contractual communications.
• Promote dispute prevention and resolution via effective contract administration.
• Ensure full adherence to company policies, contractual obligations, and client demands.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• At least 10 years of commercial engineering experience in construction.
• Demonstrated expertise in large-scale building, infrastructure, industrial, or mega projects.
• Deep familiarity with FIDIC contracts and commercial management.
• Experience within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, especially Saudi Arabia, is a strong advantage.
• Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred.
