Role overview
Indra Group UK & Ireland is hiring a Senior Buyer for a newly created position during a period of rapid growth. The role reports to the international Procurement Head, with a dotted line to the UK Country Director. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial judgement, a disciplined work approach, analytical thinking, solid negotiation ability, and familiarity with the UK market. Strong procurement experience is essential, and background in technical or IT environments would be especially valuable.
What you will do
- Create and put into action procurement strategies and plans for the region in line with business goals and operational priorities.
- Source, assess, and shortlist suppliers based on business needs and the category guidance provided by the Category Management team in Madrid, while building the supplier network needed to support purchasing activity.
- Coordinate with the Supplier Risk team to complete governance-related risk reviews for both new and existing suppliers.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with current suppliers, track their performance across areas such as quality and responsiveness, and resolve any issues that arise.
- Work closely with business teams to understand their requirements and identify the most suitable purchasing solutions.
- Once requirements are confirmed, lead the relevant sourcing activities needed to meet them.
- Negotiate supplier terms that secure the best possible commercial outcome for Indra, including pricing, timelines, payment conditions, guarantees, and other contractual terms.
- Prepare the paperwork needed to formalize supplier agreements, such as purchase orders and contracts, and partner with the legal team when required.
- Keep up to date with the technology, product, and supplier market to spot trends, understand market conditions, and anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Monitor supplier service levels across projects.
- Review supplier performance regularly and ensure contract obligations are being met.
- Identify and deliver savings opportunities while improving operations from a procurement standpoint.
- Provide reporting to Indra headquarters in line with corporate governance requirements.
- Support Audit teams, both internal and external, when needed.
Requirements
- About 5 years of experience in buyer or procurement roles is required.
- Experience purchasing technical materials or services, as well as IT software and hardware, is highly preferred.
- A technical education or practical background gained in technical settings such as IT or electronics will be an advantage.
- Strong communication and people-management skills are needed to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and third parties.
- You should be able to analyze complex situations involving multiple parties and approach problems creatively and resourcefully.
- Strong negotiation capability is essential for dealing with both external partners and internal stakeholders.
- You need excellent organization and time management skills to handle several tasks and meet deadlines.
- Hands-on knowledge of SAP and SAP Ariba is required.
- Experience closing negotiations and contracts, with legal support where needed, is important.
- You must be comfortable working on your own.
- A proactive, results-focused approach with a commitment to continuous improvement is expected.
