Role Overview
This role is based in a Horizon North camp facility and operates on a rotation of two weeks on, followed by two weeks off, with daily shifts ranging from 10 to 12 hours. Transportation to the site is provided from designated pickup points. This position supports upcoming projects in Moosonee, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent food quality standards aligned with client expectations and adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols as outlined by Food Safe standards.
- Prepare sandwich ingredients including selecting and slicing breads, meats, and cheeses manually or with equipment, assembling sandwiches by layering meats, fillings, and garnishes appropriately.
- Ensure visually appealing presentation of cold food items through proper color coordination and aesthetic arrangement.
- Monitor and control storage conditions within refrigerators and freezers to ensure food freshness and safety.
- Set up and maintain a complete salad bar for lunch and supper meal services.
- Efficiently manage food stock usage to minimize waste.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Experience of at least five years cooking in similar settings such as hotels or institutional kitchens is preferred.
- Possess FoodSafe Level I certification; additional certifications like SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP are advantageous.
- Capable of achieving a minimum score of 80% in the mandatory Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) exam.
