Safety Inspector - Road and Highways

Job Overview

The Safety Inspector will oversee all occupational health and safety aspects at road construction sites, guaranteeing compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, project safety guidelines, and relevant laws. The focus is on preventing accidents and fostering a secure work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety inspections across road development sites, operational zones, and machinery.
• Ensure the execution of risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
• Verify that all personnel utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere strictly to safety protocols.
• Detect unsafe conditions and behaviors, issuing corrective measures and monitoring their enforcement.
• Check adherence to traffic management controls and safe operations of vehicles and equipment.
• Deliver safety briefings and promote awareness through toolbox talks.
• Contribute to investigations of incidents and near-misses.
• Keep detailed safety records, daily reports, and documentation of audits.
• Assist in emergency readiness and the conduct of drills.

Required Profile

• Diploma in Engineering or Occupational Safety.
• Between three to seven years of HSE experience in road or infrastructure projects.
• Preferred certifications include NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA qualifications.
• Strong skills in identifying hazards and reporting safety concerns.
• Effective communication and leadership capabilities in safety management.
