About Technology Innovation Institute
Technology Innovation Institute (TII), located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is a government-supported research center uniting top global scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and researchers. The institute focuses on advancing society by converting challenges into innovative research and prototype technologies.
Role Overview
This position forms part of TII's Robotics Research Center, where the successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to integrating diverse technology components for civil aerial robotics projects. The goal is to advance research concepts into practical, operational prototypes with real-world usability.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, maintain, and optimize autopilot systems across various drone platforms to ensure peak performance.
- Integrate, configure, and validate a wide range of payloads including imaging devices (RGB, multispectral, thermal), sensors (LiDAR, SAR, environmental), and actuators (spraying, seeding, customized tools) tailored to mission objectives.
- Adapt autonomy modules and SDK-based systems to support mission-specific execution and automated operations.
Educational Qualifications
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in flight control, UAV integration, or similar domains.
- Practical knowledge of autopilot platforms and frameworks such as PX4, ArduPilot, DJI SDKs, along with simulation and middleware tools like Gazebo and ROS2.
- Proficiency in programming languages including C, C++, and Python for embedded systems, integration tasks, and scripting toolchains.
- Comprehensive understanding of UAV systems covering various autopilot platforms, payloads, and communication protocols.
- Highly skilled in software and hardware debugging, simulation environments, and integration processes for flight control systems.
- Additional advantage: Experience piloting drones with valid licenses.
