Research Nurse

Role Overview

The position of Research Nurse/Clinical Trials Practitioner involves an autonomous specialist role within a multi-disciplinary team, overseeing the coordination and management of a clinical research portfolio focused on hematological malignancies. This includes leading Phase II and III clinical trials conducted internally as well as at national and international levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and execute in-house, commercial, and national/international Phase I, II, and III clinical trials.
• Ensure proper documentation of trial data compliant with ICH GCP guidelines.
• Apply critical appraisal when reviewing research protocols.
• Work autonomously and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to address patient and family needs throughout different healthcare stages.
• Oversee and monitor patient care during clinical trials.
• Educate multidisciplinary teams regarding clinical trial portfolios.
• Serve as the primary contact person for patients enrolled in specific trials.
• Provide patients and families with comprehensive information about the clinical trial objectives, scientific rationale, treatment plans, potential side effects, and follow-up care.
• Develop and implement specialized care programs for trial participants.
• Mentor data managers and clinical trial practitioners.
• Provide cross-cover support to research nurses, trial practitioners, data managers, and assistants as directed by the Clinical Trial Manager.
• Promote a safe environment and care by identifying risks and adhering to incident reporting policies regarding near misses and serious incidents.
• Ensure professional practice is aligned with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of conduct and maintain current professional knowledge.
