About Anthony Nolan

Role Overview
We invite applications for a full-time Research Assistant position within our Immunogenetics team based at the Anthony Nolan Research Institute in London. This permanent role features a salary of £36,983 per annum and standard working hours of 35 per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the ongoing Patient/Donor Programme focused on Haematopoietic Cell Transplant (HCT) recipients and donors.
- Perform daily sample collection, including sterile lymphocyte separation and secure storage of patient and donor specimens.
- Manage and update clinical data meticulously in internal databases, ensuring compliance with ethical and laboratory protocols.
- Collaborate in designing and implementing innovative process improvements within the Patient/Donor Programme to optimize project efficiency.
- Participate in molecular assay development using various molecular biology methods, including the advanced Single Molecule Real-Time (SMRT) sequencing technology to characterize study cohorts.
Candidate Profile
- A degree with first class or upper second-class honours (2:1) in Biological Science or an equivalent qualification.
- Strong organisational capabilities with the aptitude to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines while maintaining detailed accuracy.
- A proactive problem solver with a collaborative team approach and the ability to independently take initiative when required.
- Laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques, particularly DNA extraction, is advantageous.
- Familiarity with HLA or other immunogenetic gene systems is preferred.
