Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector specializing in coating within the Oil & Gas / EPC sector to join our project team based in Abu Dhabi. This role demands expertise in inspecting and monitoring surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting, and coating processes following stringent standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and oversee surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting, and coating activities ensuring adherence to approved specifications and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Verify conditions such as surface cleanliness and profile, environmental factors, and coating application compliance.
- Perform inspections including Dry Film Thickness (DFT), Wet Film Thickness (WFT), adhesion tests, holiday detection, visual assessments, and identification of coating defects.
- Review paint and coating materials including batch numbers, shelf life, certifications, and technical data sheets for authenticity and compliance.
- Ensure all activities align with Method Statements, ITPs, project specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors to facilitate inspections and obtain necessary approvals.
- Monitor coating processes to confirm correct mixing, thinning, curing, and application techniques are implemented.
- Raise and monitor Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), observations, and corrective action measures related to coating activities.
- Maintain thorough documentation including inspection reports, checklists, coating records, and QA/QC files essential for project handover.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in coating QA/QC inspection within Oil & Gas or EPC projects.
- Profound knowledge of surface preparation, blasting, painting, protective coatings, and inspection methodologies.
- Familiarity with standards such as NACE/AMPP, SSPC, ISO, ASTM, and project-specific coating requirements.
- Experience with measurement and testing techniques including DFT/WFT, surface profile assessment, dew point, humidity, adhesion tests, and holiday detection.
- Possession of a NACE or AMPP Coating Inspector certification is highly desirable.
- Experience working on ADNOC Oil & Gas projects will be considered an advantage.
- Exceptional skills in documentation, reporting, coordination, and communication.
