Role Summary and Responsibilities

We are looking for early-stage Product Engineers who take ownership across the full lifecycle—from architectural design to deployment and collaborative development with partners shaping the future roadmap. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading enhancements transforming core products into best-in-class experiences involving benefits administration workflows and carrier integrations as well as embeddable user interfaces.
• Influencing product strategy as a vital contributor within the foundational product engineering team.
• Building scalable, resilient technical infrastructure aligned with the needs of our largest partners and anticipated future growth.
• Developing strong partner relationships to inform and guide roadmap and feature development priorities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will:

• Demonstrate outstanding engineering capabilities in designing and implementing complex systems featuring elegant and robust architecture.
• Work collaboratively with customers and partners to address complicated challenges effectively.
• Possess excellent product intuition and the ability to translate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Be a fast learner, self-motivated, and capable of quick, high-quality execution.
• Have a strong curiosity for investigating detailed nuances within complex technologies and industry domains.

Additional Desirable Skills

• An enthusiasm for technical writing and knowledge sharing internally and within the wider community.
• Over five years of experience designing and managing systems across multiple product lifecycles.
• Familiarity with Django (Python) and/or React (TypeScript) is helpful but not mandatory.
• A strong commitment to code quality, maintainability, testability, and clarity.
• Exceptional communication skills, especially when interacting with non-technical teams and customers.

Working Environment

Our team currently consists of around 15 members based primarily in New York City, with some distributed across both coasts. We maintain a collaborative atmosphere where each engineer owns entire problems — including scope, tradeoffs, and customer interactions. Our approach prioritizes quality without compromising speed when possible and documents all decisions transparently to maintain team agility.

Compensation and Benefits

We provide competitive salaries reflective of experience and local cost of living. The base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 annually. Benefits include fully covered health insurance, a $5,000 office budget, internet expense stipends, and unlimited paid time off with a 15-day minimum.
