About the Role
We are seeking a mid-level Product Designer to contribute significantly to the next phase of development for Isla's product experience. This position involves hands-on work solving complex design challenges and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams including Product, Engineering, and clinical safety experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Create intuitive and user-friendly product designs, managing clinical and patient-facing experiences from initial wireframes to final, implementation-ready UI.
- Act as the primary advocate for user needs, ensuring these are incorporated into all stages of product development.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and inconsistencies to enhance user experience throughout the platform.
- Support and develop structured, impactful user research processes, including repeatable usability testing essential for medical device compliance and safety.
- Integrate both qualitative and quantitative data into design decisions promoting evidence-based outcomes.
- Promote the adoption of accessible and inclusive design practices following WCAG standards to accommodate diverse user abilities and needs.
- Contribute to maintaining and evolving the design system for consistency and scalability, including AI readiness, fostering collaboration between design and engineering.
- Experiment with AI tools to optimize design workflows, improving speed and quality of output.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven skills in end-to-end product design encompassing discovery, journey mapping, wireframing, and polished UI creation.
- Ability to apply systems thinking considering the broader ecosystem impact of design decisions.
- Strong instincts for product and UX, simplifying complex workflows into intuitive, user-centered solutions grounded in research.
- Collaborative approach with cross-functional teams for co-creating solutions rather than solely fulfilling requirements.
- Experience working with design systems emphasizing scalability, uniformity, and engineering collaboration.
- Confident in using both qualitative and quantitative data to support design choices and assess results.
- Curious and proactive in exploring AI and emerging design technologies to enhance workflows and product experiences.
- Commitment to refining team practices in discovery, critique, prioritization, and collaboration within agile product development.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments with a proactive stance on UX improvement opportunities.
- Expertise in accessibility and inclusive design, applying WCAG guidelines thoroughly to create safe and usable clinical products.
- Experience designing digital products in regulated or clinical sectors is advantageous, though designers from other industries with innovative perspectives are encouraged to apply.
