About Wave
Our mission is to transform Africa into the first cashless continent. In 2017, more than half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa lacked bank accounts due to high fees, limited branch access, and lack of card acceptance. Without financial institutions, many keep cash at home, face high-interest lenders, and deal with time-consuming cash payments. We're addressing these issues by developing financial services that are free, instantly accessible, and widely accepted—even where utilities and infrastructure are unreliable. Since launching our mobile app in Senegal in 2017, we've expanded to millions of users across nine countries and are growing rapidly.
