Job Overview
This opportunity is for a permanent full-time Procurement Officer position based in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, operating 75 hours every two weeks. A 12-month eligibility list will also be created for future similar openings.
About the Team
The team supports all Health and Social Services divisions by providing expert advice, assistance, and managing the procurement of goods and services in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Role Responsibilities
- Procure a range of goods and services critical for supporting current and new Health and Social Services programs.
- Offer guidance aligned with best practices in Public Procurement across all organizational levels.
- Assist programs in preparing and completing procurement documentation.
- Lead and administer complex procurement processes.
- Utilize multiple financial systems to execute procurement transactions.
- Engage with vendors, the public, Non-Governmental Organizations, and First Nation Governments to finalize procurement activities successfully.
Essential Qualifications
- Experience in preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial and procurement documentation in finance, financial services, or public sector settings.
- Strong client-focused service experience in fast-paced environments, preferably within government.
- Research and analytical skills supporting informed decision-making.
- Proficiency with computerized financial management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with public procurement procedures is advantageous.

Conditions of Employment
Successful candidates must complete a series of in-house training courses within one month of hire, including WHMIS 2015, Procurement Policy Overview, Market Research, Solicitation Methods, Competitive Contract Law Foundations, Managing Mandatory Requirements, Bids & Tenders tutorials, First Nation Procurement Policy, Procurement 101, and Finance 101 spending authority.
The work environment is office-based, involving exposure to computer screens (over 90% of the time), with occasional overtime required to meet deadlines.
