Overview and Duties
This Policy Analyst (Detail) position, at GS levels 12 through 15, involves coordination and analysis of regulatory policies across departments such as Transportation, Justice, and Homeland Security. The role requires reviewing interagency regulations, conducting detailed analyses to address regulatory and economic issues, ensuring compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act for information collection, and providing recommendations to decision-makers. Writing clear summaries, developing strategies for regulatory policy effectiveness, interpreting legislation, and preparing briefing materials for senior officials are key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications and Conditions
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Males born after December 31, 1959, must have registered with Selective Service.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain favorable security clearance.
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug screening.
- This is a non-reimbursable federal detail opportunity; relocation expenses will not be covered.
- Only current federal employees at the specified grade level (GS-12 to GS-15) are eligible.
- Minimum detail period is 4 to 6 months with possible extension.
- Home agency concurrence and memorandum of understanding are required.
Experience Requirements
Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level comparable to the next lower grade. Experience may include paid, unpaid, volunteer, or national service work that develops relevant competencies.
