Overview
Join a locally owned Shoppers Drug Mart store in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to contribute to delivering health, beauty, and convenience services to your community while prioritizing excellent customer care.
Role Summary
Support pharmacy operations by assisting with technical dispensing functions, aiding pharmacy service delivery as needed, and maintaining store operations in compliance with Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide prompt, courteous service to customers ensuring an efficient workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and collect prescription details in line with standards.
- Prioritize tasks based on assigned roles and schedules.
- Direct clinical questions to pharmacists.
- Set accurate expectations for wait times with customers.
- Locate prescriptions and related products, and manage cash register operations within the dispensary.
- Ensure customers needing counseling are referred to the pharmacist.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards.
- Process new and repeat prescriptions per standard procedures.
- Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics.
- Manage third-party billing and manual accounts accurately.
- Answer phones and route inquiries to pharmacists as necessary.
- Handle incoming faxes according to pharmacy protocols.
- Assist pharmacists in coordinating patient callbacks.
- File documentation accurately respecting pharmacy practice standards.
- Assist in prescription preparation, including data entry for new and refill requests.
- Prepare medications by counting, measuring, packaging, and labeling per standards.
- Maintain data integrity within pharmacy systems.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Preferably a diploma from a recognized Pharmacy Assistant program.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy setting is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently.
- Effective problem-solving capabilities.
- Keen attention to detail.

Compensation
Hourly wage ranges from $18.60 to $23.50, with pay determined by candidate experience, knowledge, and the location's geographic area.
