Overview
We are looking for an Operator (Asset Inspector) to join our Taunton depot team. This role involves inspecting National Grid's Distribution network assets up to 132kV as well as other company assets subject to statutory inspections.
Main Duties
The position requires independent work, often away from the depot. You will use company computer systems to identify due inspections, travel to sites to perform asset inspections, and record observations. Any immediate hazards must be promptly reported to your manager. Data entry is completed either on a handheld device onsite or through the office system.
Candidate Profile
This role demands quick, decisive, and responsible decision-making to meet operational targets. Flexibility and professionalism in customer interactions are essential. Candidates should live within roughly 30 minutes of the Taunton depot and hold a full driving license to be mobile within the service area.
Qualifications
Applicants must have GCSE qualifications in English and Maths (grades 1-9/G-A*) or an equivalent level certification such as Functional Skills. Proof of qualifications is required before appointment.

Additional Information
The role includes a provisional interview date of Wednesday 5th August. Staff selected will be trained to become fully capable of conducting a comprehensive range of asset inspections.
