Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive, people-centered leader to take charge of a packaging production line at our Avondale bakery. This position offers the chance to lead from the front, foster a capable team, and consistently achieve operational goals in a fast-paced setting.

You will manage a team of nine on your shift, collaborating closely with a fellow Team Leader and cross-functional partners including quality, operations, and broader site teams. Your leadership in engaging team members, performance management, and day-to-day coordination will be essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of 9, fostering a culture of high performance and clear direction.
• Ensure achievement of production, quality, and labour productivity targets.
• Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and hygiene standards.
• Manage shift performance focusing on attendance, team capability, and employee engagement.
• Conduct daily communication to align on priorities and goals.
• Optimize labour and resource allocation to maximize production line efficiency.
• Oversee the use of temporary labour and control on-shift costs.
• Collaborate with quality and operations teams to uphold product standards.
• Promptly identify and address production issues to sustain smooth operations.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts, including waste reduction and enhanced efficiency.

Success Measures

Within the first year, you will establish strong rapport with your team and site stakeholders. Your shifts will operate smoothly with clear guidance, high engagement, and consistent target achievement. You will effectively manage and develop your team's performance while building a safe, productive, and accountable work environment capable of adapting when unexpected changes occur.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on people leader experienced in fast-moving manufacturing or FMCG contexts. You might currently hold a Team Leader, Supervisor, or Leading Hand role and are prepared to assume greater leadership responsibilities.

You should bring:

• Prior experience managing teams in manufacturing, FMCG, or similar settings.
• Proficient people leadership skills including coaching and performance management.
• Confidence in handling direct conversations and managing team dynamics daily.
• A strong focus on safety, quality, and operational discipline.
• Quick problem-solving abilities and adaptability to shifting priorities.
• Experience with production targets, labour planning, and shift coordination.
• A proactive and accountable approach with strong personal ownership of outcomes.
• Preferred: familiarity with GMP or food safety standards.
