Role Overview
We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee dry bulk vessel activities within our maritime operations. This role involves managing vessel chartering, voyage monitoring, stakeholder communication, and ensuring regulatory compliance to optimize operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily dry bulk vessel operations including coordinating chartering efforts and negotiating freight rates to ensure timely ship fixtures.
- Supervise vessel voyages aligning with charter party agreements, overseeing loading and unloading activities to maximize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain active communication channels with ship owners, charterers, brokers, port agents, and relevant stakeholders to facilitate seamless operation and promptly resolve any issues.
- Prepare and process all essential documentation such as voyage instructions, laytime assessments, and demurrage claims in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
- Keep abreast of market trends, freight rates, and developments in the dry bulk shipping sector, providing analytical insights to enhance vessel performance and commercial potential.
- Identify operational risks including weather impacts, port congestion, and regulatory changes, and apply strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
- Monitor vessel performance indicators like fuel efficiency, speed, and cargo handling to identify improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Between 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in vessel operations focused on the dry bulk shipping segment.
- Strong knowledge of dry bulk chartering processes including contract negotiation, laytime calculation, and voyage planning.
- Excellent skills in communication and relationship management with a broad range of maritime stakeholders.
- Proficiency with maritime operational software such as chartering systems, voyage optimization tools, along with standard office software like MS Office.
- Analytical aptitude to interpret market and performance data for informed decision-making.
- Capability to manage multiple priorities efficiently under pressure in fast-moving operational environments.
- Understanding of international shipping regulations, industry best practices, and principles of risk management.
